Yan leads the way for women in Science

ANOTHER SUCCESSFUL DOMINICAN LEADS THE WAY FOR WOMEN IN SCIENCE!

It’s another proud moment for St. Dominic’s Brewood as we celebrate our former pupil Yan Lau’s (second from right on above picture) achievement in securing a top science internship at Oxford University.

Yan, who is currently studying Biomedicine at Oxford Brook University, fought off fierce competition to secure a summer research placement under Professor David Roberts at the Blood Research Lab at Oxford Univeristy.

Professor Roberts, who teaches at Oxford University, leads a team of researchers specialising in immune-haematology.  Yan will be working with his team in the study of host-pathogen interactions in malaria.

Proud

We are proud to provide our students with a whole range of experiences in the sciences at St.Dominic’s; from our weekly STEM club to our annual visit to London to watch live operations.

We are even more proud when former pupils return to tell us how their foundations at St. Dominic’s have ensured that they flourish in careers traditionally reserved for ‘the boys’.
